Base App’s social features are powered by Farcaster, a platform that lets users tokenize social media posts. The feature also enables Base App users to observe live interactions with tokenized posts. It also contains mini-apps in a wide range of industries, such as gaming, offers USDC payments, and provides messaging services.
The AI tools offered by Base App allow users to create AI-powered feeds and to edit videos, with Armstrong noting that 2025 is the year of AI agents. The wallet is powered by the exchange’s Ethereum layer 2 network, Base.
Crypto coins Expanding Blockchain Exploration
Coinbase Wallet’s rebrand to Base App occurs as the exchange expands its exploration of the blockchain space to make it easier for non-crypto users to enter the crypto world. Coinbase Wallet, for example, offered features like crypto transfers via WhatsApp and DeFi functionalities.
With Coinbase Wallet rebranding to Base, the exchange will likely continue creating Base-powered products.
